Elk Creek Vineyards makes it easy for you to order the wine you like right from our website.  With a simple click of a button your wine will be sent directly to you without ever having to leave the comfort of your home.  However, if you’re like many people it’s just as easy for you to stop by your local wine shop and pick up a bottle of wine while your out grocery shopping or on your way home from work.  

However, say you put in a long day at the office and are looking forward to sitting down to dinner and relaxing with a bottle of Elk Creek Chardonnay or Merlot.  You stop by the wine store after work and unfortunately for them and you they haven’t yet begun to carry Elk Creek Vineyard Wine.  So instead of settling for something not as good, you have to drive to another wine store in the other direction and get it there.  Well now you don’t have to drive all over town to find your beloved Elk Creek Wine! 

On our website we have a “retail store locator” right on our home page.   Simply enter in your zip code and you’ll get a list of all the stores throughout Kentucky that are in your area that sell Elk Creek Vineyard Wines.   It also lists the stores addresses, phone numbers and directions on how to get to the store.  Wow is that nice or what!  No more driving around town trying to get the great taste of Elk Creek Wines!

In looking over some of my previous blogs I’ve noticed that I tend to talk a lot about Elk Creek Vineyard’s great outdoor concerts!  It’s so easy to do because it seems like every weekend there is a great musical group playing on our outdoor amphitheater.  By the way, this Saturday country sensation Sara Evans will be here and you can bet you’ll find me right in the mix of things having a blast.

 But this week I want to talk about shopping, which just happens to be one of my all time favorite things to do!  A lot of people don’t realize that at the Winery we have a huge selection of wine accessories, cookbooks, t-shirts, wine glasses, greeting cards and so much more!  I could spend hours just walking around looking at all of the great wine accessories.  If it has to do with wine, you’ll find it here!  My girlfriend loves wine so for her birthday I bought her a t-shirt with a picture of three bottles of wine outlined in small colored jewels and underneath it says “Group Therapy”.  She absolutely loved it!  She wore it out one night and couldn’t believe how many people stopped her to ask where she got it! 

If you’re looking for something different to buy your friends or family for a birthday, anniversary or any special occassion, stop by Elk Creek Winery and look around.  Of course the most important thing we sell at the Winery is our award winning wines, but what’s a bottle of wine without a beautiful decanter to pour it in or a top-rated corkscrew to open the bottle.  What about appetizer plates that have a holder built in to hold your wine glass while you eat.  Ever put your glass down at a party only to find that everyone else did too and now you don’t know which wine glass is yours?  That’s no longer a problem when you pick up a set of our miniature wine charms that clasp around the stem of your wine glass so that you’ll never have to worry about which glass is yours again.

Once again Elk Creek Vineyards has exciting plans on its outdoor stage in October.  We love showcasing local talent and with the Ohio duo group Over The Rhine “talent” is an understatement.  With deep roots in Ohio the married duo Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist are at the heart of Over The Rhine.  They were recently named to Paste Magazine’s list of 100 Best Living Songwriter’s.  They have a great collection of songs incorporating jazz, blues, folk and rock.  Just listen to some of the words their fans use to describe the music of OTR:

Karin Bergquist has the most beautiful voice that you simply have to hear!  I could listen to her for hours!  A good friend of mine, Maggie took me to see them a few years ago in Cincinnati and I’ve been hooked ever since.  She’s been a faithful fan of theirs for over ten years now and absolutely loves their music to this day.  We never miss their Christmas tour they have in Cincinnati and this year is their Special 20th Anniversary Celebration concert at the Taft Theater.  You can bet Maggie and I will be there, but first you’ll find us on October 11th here at Elk Creek Vineyards enjoying a beautiful fall evening, an amazing bottle of wine and a wonderful outdoor concert from Over The Rhine.  Grab a ticket and we’ll see you there!   

Wow, the outdoor amphitheater at Elk Creek Vineyards in going to be rockin on September 27th with a singer that The Academy of Country Music has given the distinct honor of “Top Female Vocalist” - Sara Evans!  This is a huge event for us here at Elk Creek and we are looking forward to an amazing concert with tickets selling like wildfire.   Hailed by People Magazine as one of the world’s most beautiful people, Sara Evans has that farm girl charm and still holds true to her good values from her small town upbringing in Missouri.  She has five albums under her belt which has established her as an elite member of Music Hall with her latest being her “Greatest Hits” in 2007.  At any given time you’ll hear her music being played around the country on every country music station.

As with all our outdoor concerts you can purchase tickets online and enjoy the concert from our VIP section at the winery, select a seat from our Gold Circle or Preferred Seating near the stage or bring your own chair and blankets with General Admission.  What a great time to get all your friends together and make a night of it!  Autumn is coming and I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a nice fall Saturday evening than relaxing outside with your friends, sharing a bottle (or two) of wine and all the while listening to the amazing voice of Sara Evans!
