Happy Halloween 2008!

It’s going to be a wonderful Halloween night here at Elk Creek Vineyards!  It’s Friday so stop by and start your weekend off right at the Winery.  Relax with a glass of wine while listening to live music from Juanita Wilkins.  I can’t think of a better way to end a long work week than un-winding with family and friends.

Here’s wishing you a happy and safe Halloween!

It’s Time for Indoor Fun!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Now that it is officially Autumn and the weather is turning brisk, Elk Creek’s outdoor concert series have come to an end.  Even though I hate to see that happen I’m already looking forward to seeing who is on the upcoming outdoor concert series calendar for 2009.  I’m sure it will be amazing!  And you know what?  That will be here before you know it!  Halloween is only a few days away and then on to Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year 2009!  Wow can you believe 2009 is only a little over two months away?  I guess it’s true what they say about “Time flies when you’re having fun” because having a good time is the number one goal at Elk Creek.

Ok, so you’re thinking, “What are some things that can be done indoors at Elk Creek”?  Well look no further than our homepage and you’ll find lots of exciting things to do and see here at Elk Creek Vineyards.  During the colder months come on into the Winery and listen to some local musicians play while sitting in front of a cozy fireplace with a glass of Merlot.  Maybe you’ve been thinking about taking cooking classes or would love to go on a wine tasting tour.  How about a nice quiet romantic weekend at our Bed and Breakfast or unwind with a traditional Swedish massage.  Stop by the mezzanine area of the Winery and browse our wonderful art gallery featuring some amazing work from local artists.  See, there is a lot to do “indoors” at Elk Creek Vineyards.  The list goes on and on…

With the holidays coming up make someone very happy with our Virtual Gift Cards.  It’s the perfect gift for the wine enthusiast in your life!

The Winery - Good Wine, Good Time!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

If you haven’t had a chance to visit Elk Creek Vineyards now is the perfect time to go.   The autumn season with the leaves changing to colors of orange and yellow, the rolling green hills with vines as far as the eye can see and a touch of fall in the air is something that shouldn’t be missed.   The scenery alone is breathtaking!  Sitting on the covered deck of the winery in an oversized rocker with a glass of wine in your hand looking out over the vineyard is about as good as it gets!

If you’re looking for a place to go for the day with a group of friends, family or co-workers, Elk Creek Winery is exactly what you need.  Stop in for lunch or a late afternoon snack at the Winery Cafe or come by on a Friday or Saturday evening and enjoy a glass of wine while listening to some of our local talented musicians.  Go on a winemaking tour or do some wine tasting with your friends and make a day of it.  When you’re done grab a seat by our three-story stone hearth with a fire blazing and enjoy true southern hospitality at its best.

We Are Kentucky Proud!

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Kentucky Proud is the “buy local” initiative of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.  Five years ago, Kentucky Proud had about three dozen members.  According to Kentucky’s Commissioner of Agriculture, today more than 1,300 farmers, processors, retailers, restaurants, farmers’ markets and Kentucky state parks are members of this wonderful program.  And I’m proud to say that Elk Creek Vineyard’s is one such member!

Here is a list of our Kentucky Proud Wines:

  • 2006 Crazy Elk Blush

  • 2006 Vidal Blanc

  • 2006 Sweet Owen Red

  • 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 2005 Red Table Wine

  • 2006 Chardonnay

  • 2006 Riesling

Buying Kentucky Proud is easy, just look for the label.  Their secret ingredient is the hard work and dedication of Kentucky’s farm families.  Find out why “nothing else is close”!

Elk Creek Vineyards + Sara Evans = Fantastic!

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

If you didn’t make it out to Elk Creek Vineyards this past Saturday, you missed one heck of a show on our outdoor stage!  As you know, I had been looking forward to this concert for a while and believe me Sara Evans did not disappoint!  The two opening acts that were on stage before her (Darryl Worley and Zach Simpson and the Van Murals) added the perfect beginning to the night.

The last concert my husband and I went to at Elk Creek Vineyards, we got VIP tickets and enjoyed a night of pampering at the winery.  The food, the wine and being able to sit on the winery deck overlooking the amphitheater was a great way to enjoy the concert.  However, for the Sara Evans concert we decided we’d try something different and bought tickets in the gold seats that are down in front of the stage.  It was so much fun to “people watch” before the concert started.  You feel like you’re right in the middle of things and I loved it.   Once the concert started everybody was up on their feet and enjoying the show.

So next time when you’re thinking about going to one of our fantastic outdoor concert events, it doesn’t matter whether you’re in the VIP section, Reserved Seats or whether you brought you own chairs to lounge about in the lawn.  You’re guaranteed a great concert, delicious food and wine, friendly people and not a bad seat in the house!    Come on out and enjoy!
