Don’t Forget the Nouveau This Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Stuffing is to turkey what Nouveau wine is to Thanksgiving.  You can’t have one without the other!  At midnight tonight Elk Creek Vineyards will be releasing it’s Kentucky Chambourcin Nouveau just in time for your Thanksgiving celebration.  Since Elk Creek’s 2007 Nouveau won Gold at the Kentucky State Fair you can bet this years batch will be just as well received!

Nouveau has bright, fresh, red fruit flavors such as cherry, strawberry and raspberry.  It is not a wine to sniff, swirl and contemplate, but a wine to pour and party with.  Due to the way it is made the astringent tannins normally found in red wines isn’t there, leaving an easy to drink fruity wine.  It is about as close to white wine as a red wine can get.  It is amazing to realize that just weeks before this wine was a cluster of grapes in the Elk Creek Vineyard.  But by an expeditious harvest, a rapid fermentation and a speedy bottling, all is ready at the midnight hour!

Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying, “Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance”.  If that’s the truth then I think we could all use a little more wine!

An Evening With Jean-Robert!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Have any plans for tomorrow night?  If not, head on over to Elk Creek Vineyard’s for an evening of delicious food and wine with the amazing French chef Jean-Robert de Cavel!  I had the pleasure of dining at The Maisonette in downtown Cincinnati years ago when Jean-Robert was there and still to this day it was by far one of the best dinners I’ve ever had.  Because of his unbelievable culinary expertise The Maisonette continued it’s astounding 5-star quality reign for the eight years he was there.

In 2001, after working in the culinary business for 25 years, Jean-Robert de Cavels’ dream of owning and operating his own restaurant became a reality.  Jean-Robert at Pigall’s was born.  Within a few years, and after great successes with the restaurant, community and outreach programs, the Jean-Robert French Restaurant Group is proud to show their great strides in the Cincinnati restaurant and cultural scene with four great restaurants; Jean-Robert at Pigall’s, Bistro JeanRo, Greenup Cafe and Chalk.  All of these restaurants are so good!

Simply call Elk Creek Vineyard and make your reservation today.  Cuisine by Jean-Robert will be offering a 4-course meal that will make your mouth water.  Believe me you don’t want to miss this great opportunity to meet Jean-Robert.  He will be here in person to discuss pairing wines with food so that they compliment each other.  Check out “An Evening with Jean-Robert“ for an evening you won’t soon forget!
