Wine is Perfect for Mother’s Day!

April 20th, 2009

Now that the Easter holiday has come and gone and the Easter decorations have been stored away, the next (and most important) holiday of the year is Mother’s Day!  Sunday May 10th is that one day a year where mother’s get pampered and fussed over.  Personally, I think once a year is definitely not enough – not even close!  Being a mother, I can attest to the fact that there really should be a “Mother’s Day” at least every other week.  Everything that a mother does for her family can not be sufficiently praised in just one day!

However, having said that a Mother’s Day weekend at the Elk Creek Vineyard Lodge does go a long way of showing just how much you love and appreciate everything she does for you.  And if that isn’t enough of a hint for my husband and children, then maybe all the post-it notes I’ve placed around the house with Elk Creek Vineyard’s picture and phone number on them might just be!

With a busy schedules of kids, work, carpools, practices, cleaning and cooking a mom’s work is never done.  This Mother’s Day give your mom a weekend of relaxation and quiet in the majestic rolling hills of Kentucky.  Massages, wine tasting and tours, art gallery, wonderful food, peaceful setting and the best wine Kentucky has to offer.   If I’m only going to get one Mother’s Day a year, that’s exactly how I want to spend it!

Show your mom/wife/grandmother just what they mean to you by giving them just what the doctor ordered – a weekend of down-home southern hospitality at it’s best (and a few bottles of Kentucky Proud Wines doesn’t hurt either)!

Classes, Classes and More Classes!

March 9th, 2009

At Elk Creek Vineyards you never have to look very far to find something exciting and new to try.  Every month they offer an array of eclectic classes in just about anything you can think of.

Quilt Making Class

This month Elk Creek is offering quilt making classes on March 18 and 19.  The classes are given by Leslie Featherly who is the owner and operator of the Wilderness Road Quilt Company in Danville, Kentucky.  Talk about some down home southern hospitality!  She has been sewing for 35 years and has a beautiful quilt collection.  Come and enjoy a nice quiet day (or two) of quilting, eating wonderful food, drinking wonderful wine and making wonderful new friends.  What’s not to love about that?  Make your reservations today!

Photography Class

On April 29 and 30, Elk Creek will be hosting a photography class on basic photographic techniques and photo editing software.  I love taking pictures but I’ve always wanted to learn how to take better digital photographs and learn everything that my camera has to offer.  If you’re like me you get a digital camera and just take pictures without even realizing all the extras the camera can do to make the pictures look better.   The classes are given by Jim Fausz who has worked in the retail photography business for 34 years.  He is currently the official photographer for the Kentucky Symphony.

Belly Dance Class

On May 6 and 7, you’ll be able to experience American Tribal Style Bellydancing.  It’s sensual, earthy, rhythmic and fun!  Talk about a great thing to do with a group of your girlfriends – well this is it!  I’m definitely getting a couple of my girlfriends together and we’re taking this class.  I can’t wait!   There’s also a Yoga class included.  The bellydance class is given by instructor Terrie Markesberry who is currently dancing with two troupes.  She also teaches privately at the Rabbit Hash Navel Academy.  The Yoga instructor is Carol Powell.  She has been teaching Ashtanga yoga for eight years.  Yoga is a wonderful way to tone, stretch and strengthen your body.

So get your calendars out and mark the dates in March, April and May with these great classes at Elk Creek Vineyards.  Great classes AND great wine, what more could you ask for?
