Big Weekend at Elk Creek!

July 14th, 2009

This Friday night, July 17th, the outdoor amphitheater is going to be home to an amazing performer!  Formerly the voice behind Hootie and the Blowfish, Darius Rucker has gone country – and man is he good!

His first country album, Learn to Live, debut at #1 on the Billboard charts and the New York Times has claimed the album as “one of the year’s most vibrant country albums!”  I love his hit single “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It!”  I have this CD and believe me I play it constantly!  He’s such a good guy you can’t help falling in love with his music!

So bring your family and friends out this Friday night for a great concert, great wine and great southern hospitality at Elk Creek Vineyards!

Then on Saturday the Elk Creek Hunt Club is sponsoring a shoot to benefit the Mario Robles foundation.  Mario was a beloved member of the Elk Creek family and friend not only to those who worked with him, but to those who were fortunate enough to meet him.  His smile and personality were contagious!  Mario left bethind his three beautiful children and loving wife at the much too young age of 25.  This annual shoot is in remembrance of Mario and his dedication to Elk Creek.  All the proceeds will be going to the Mario Robles Foundation.  To read more about Mario and the shoot go to www.elkcreekhuntclub.com

Buddy Guy Rocks The Blues!

June 16th, 2009

Entertaining, inspiring, amazing…those are just a few words that describe Buddy Guy!  Saturday night at Elk Creek Vineyards live on the outdoor stage Buddy Guy belted out the blues to well over a thousand screaming fans!  To those of us who were lucky enough to be there, ”awestruck” probably better describes how many of us felt.  We were literally in the presence of greatness!

And at the ripe young age of 72 there ain’t nothing slowing him down either!  His soulful voice and infectious smile had women AND men from nine years old to ninety standing in their seats hanging on his every tune.  His God given talent of playing the guitar was nothing short of amazing.  It’s no wonder guitarists such as; Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and Vaughan consider Buddy an influence and an inspiration.

The night started off with another young man inspired by Buddy by the name of Quinn Sullivan.  Not quite as long in the profession as Buddy - unbelievably Quinn is only 10 years old, but boy could he play that guitar!   He actually does a song with Buddy on his new CD titled Skin Deep.  During Buddy’s performance he called Quinn onstage to play awhile.  Their duet of Mustang Sally was enough to have everybody from the outdoor stage to the Winery on their feet and singing to beat the band!

Elk Creek Vineyard’s was the perfect arena for Buddy Guy!  The rolling hills of Kentucky, the beautiful wood Lodge and Winery as a backdrop and acres of lush grapevines.  He perfomed here last year and was more than happy to add Elk Creek Vineyards to his 2009 Tour dates.  He isn’t shy to say how much he loves Elk Creek and most importantly – their Kentucky Wine!

If you get a chance to see Buddy Guy in concert, don’t pass it up!  Believe me when I say that Buddy Guy is saving the blues one song at a time!
