Buddy Guy Is Back!

May 29th, 2009

Five time Grammy winner Buddy Guy is back at Elk Creek Vineyards!  Once again he’ll be gracing us with his presence on the outdoor stage for what is to be a blockbuster summer concert we won’t soon forget!

People are still raving about his performance from last year.  I was there and I can tell you it was amazing!  This year however he won’t be alone.   Ten year old Quinn Sullivan who is a child prodigy guitarist, will be right there on stage with Buddy.  He’s played with Buddy before and has a guest appearance on one of the tracks on Buddy’s 2008 album Skin Deep.  You will be on your feet in no time once these two start playing!

Watching Buddy and Quinn together and hearing them play the Blues will be something you don’t want to miss!

So mark your calendars for June 13th and be sure to order your tickets today!  Believe me, they won’t last long!

You’ve Never Seen Art Like This!

May 19th, 2009

Elk Creek Vineyards are infamous for their amazing wines, beautiful rustic Winery, great outdoor summer concerts, wonderful classes from cooking to belly dancing and romantic get-away weekends at the lodge.  But did you also know that housed inside the Winery on the Mezzanine level is “The Gallery” which features incredible works of art by local artists.

Through the end of May the exhibit is titled “Horse Sense” and the list of artisan’s include:

  • Janet Bailey Burch – Relief Sculpture

  • John Stephen Hockensmith -Photography

  • Scot Kellersberger – Metal Work

  • Greg Seigel – Ceramic Scuplture

  • Mick Shambro - Scroll Saw Wood

  • Leslie St. Clair - Pottery

  • John Ward - Oil Painting

  • John Leeds – Agatte Jewelry

All of these artists have a unique talent of seeing horses in their own way.  My husband and I were there over the weekend and all of the paintings, sculptures, pottery and metal work of horses were absolutely breathtaking!  I wanted to buy them all!  What’s so amazing about all these crafters and artisans is that I’ve never before seen works of art like this.  The detail was amazing!  You could actually feel the horses running when you looked at the paintings and intricate metal work.

Kentucky is known for its love of horses and The Gallery at Elk Creek Vineyards did an amazing job showcasing this love.  If you haven’t been to see the exhibit “Horse Sense” then you have to go before the month is over and see just what I’m talking about.  Believe me, you’ll be so happy you did!

In addition, there couldn’t be a better setting to show how good these artists are.  The Mezzanine area of the Winery, surrounded by tall wood beams, an open floor plan overlooking the Winery below and lots of windows looking out to the lush green vineyards and rolling hills of Elk Creek!
